Linza v. PHH Mortgage Corp: The jury returned multiple verdicts on forms submitted to them as to all causes of action, and a judgment was entered for Mr. Linza based on the verdict forms for $513,902.40 in compensatory damages and $15,700,000 in punitive damages. That would be reversed after ‘deep pockets’ PHH Mortgage Corp hired the top litigators and BigLaw firm Goodwin Procter to reverse the judgment and obtain a judgment of foreclosure against Mr. Linza. They would spend $1M+, over 4x the value of the mortgage to overturn the lower court judgment.
